Good morning, Greeley.

A new WalletHub report shows Colorado ranked sixth in national charitable giving — and 11th in volunteer hours — as residents continue to support local nonprofits.

Retired Air Force captain Gary Smith has been volunteering at the Colorado Freedom Memorial by scrubbing, painting and repairing the monument near Buckley Space Force Base that honors over 6,000 Coloradans killed or missing in action.

He said his work is a way to continue serving—especially after learning his wife's cousin is one of those remembered.

Colorado updated its school bus law on May 24th, 2025 so drivers must stop when a bus's STOP arm is out unless a median or physical barrier is present — painted lines are no longer considered barriers.

Local agencies have raised awareness to help keep school children safe.
