Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 2nd of September.
Good morning, Greeley.
🏛️ Government
Greeley residents have 12 candidates confirmed for the November city council and mayor's race — with contests for four council seats, including wards 2, 3 and 4 plus an at-large seat, as current Mayor John Gates completes his term.
Voters will face a full contest in every race.
A hearing officer ruled Sunday that a petition to stop the city-approved financing plan for a west Greeley entertainment district is invalid because council ordinances passed in May are administrative—voters cannot repeal them.
Greeley Deserves Better said it plans to appeal the decision in Weld District Court.
